Founders
Winston Robles (R.I.P.)
Winston Robles practiced law since 1966 and was a founding partner of the law firm Robles & Robles. He graduated in Law and Political Science at the Universidad Libre de Colombia and got a Ph.D. in Criminal Law and Prison Studies at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. In the 1970s, Winston Robles served as Legal Counsel for the National Bank of Panama and served as Head of the Legal Department, and also formed part of the Bank´s Board of Directors as Secretary. He was Vice-President of the National Bar Association and from 1967 to 1975 served as Professor of Philosophy of Law and Political Sciences at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Panama. In 1978 he founded the University of San Pedro Sula in Honduras, where he served as Academic Director and Professor in different areas at the Law Faculty. In 1982 Winston Robles was designated Editorial Director of the newspaper La Prensa, has been the Regional Vice-President of the Committee on Freedom of the Press and Information of the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) and board member of the Latin-American Center of Journalism.
Ivan Robles (R.I.P.)
Ivan Robles was a founding partner of the firm Robles & Robles and practicing lawyer since 1972. He received his title in Law and Political Science at the Universidad de La Plata, Argentina. During the period of 1976-1977 he served as Special Adviser to the Loan Department of Dadeland Bank in Miami, Florida. Since his return to Panama in 1979, his career was related to Maritime Law and Corporate Law, Insurance and Banking, Government contracts, Maritime Litigations and Ship Registration. He was a member of the National Bar Association of Panama, the International Maritime Committee, the Iberoamerican Institute of Maritime Law and the Panamanian Maritime Law Association.
